Written to be read by whoever has to approve this for a college, a training provider or an employer. The short version: this site collects nothing about you, and there is no server to collect it with.
No accounts. No cookies. No analytics. No tracking. No data leaves your device.
PLC Academy is a set of static files — HTML, CSS and JavaScript — served over HTTPS. There is no database, no login system and no server-side code. Everything runs inside your own browser. It continues to work with the network disconnected.
| What | Where it lives |
|---|---|
| Which levels you have completed, your stars and XP | Your browser's local storage, on your device |
| The programs you have written | Your browser's local storage, on your device |
| Your display settings (colour scheme, sound, voice) | Your browser's local storage, on your device |
Local storage is not a cookie. It is never attached to a network request and it is not readable by any other site. Clearing your browser's site data deletes all of it, and nothing anywhere else changes — because there is nothing anywhere else.
This site is intended to be usable by children as well as adults, so it is built to collect nothing from anyone. There is no sign-up, no profile and no way for a user to submit personal information anywhere in the game itself.
The single exception is a careers contact form, which appears only on the completion certificate after all 41 levels have been finished. It asks for a name, an email address and a message, and it is restricted to people aged 18 or over, who must confirm their age before it will send. Under-18s are shown a message explaining that we cannot take their details, and are encouraged to show the certificate to a parent, teacher or careers adviser instead.
That form is entirely optional. Nothing else in the game asks for anything.
We use your name, email address and message for one purpose only: to reply to you about working in controls engineering. We do not add you to a mailing list, we do not share the details with anyone, and we will delete them on request — just ask, at the address below.
Your message includes a summary of your progress in the game (levels completed, stars, hints used). That summary contains no personal information beyond what you type.
The site is hosted as static files. Like any web server, the host keeps ordinary access logs, which may include IP addresses, for security and reliability. These are not used to build any profile of visitors and are not linked to anything you do inside the game.
A service worker stores a copy of the site in your browser so it works without a connection. It caches this site's own files and nothing else, and it never sends anything anywhere.
Because we hold no personal data about anyone who simply plays the game, there is nothing about you for us to give you, correct or erase. If you have used the careers contact form and want your details removed, email us and we will delete them.
